Jody has spent over 30 years building Bittersweet into an Old Town institution. Starting as a catering waiter in 1986, he was soon asked to do kitchen prep work for $5 per hour. With a keen eye for innovation and a strong desire for efficiency, he worked to improve the freshness of the product and lower waste and in 1990 purchased the business from the original owners. In 1997 the company expanded with a fresh food bar and outdoor seating. 2007 saw the purchase of an adjacent catering business and building a 5000 sq. ft. production kitchen and catering office.

Just two short years ago, Rachel relocated from her hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts to see what kind of opportunities awaited her in the DC Metro area. Having graduated with a degree in English Literature, she quickly decided that while she loves Shakespeare, she ultimately found herself drawn to the hospitality industry. After spending several years as a server, she then moved into restaurant management and later to catering, her true passion. Fancying herself a foodie, Rachel enjoys keeping up with the newest culinary trends and writing innovative menus for her clients. Her attention to detail and eye for design make her an excellent asset at your full service event - where, she'll admit, she gets her kicks watching all the details come together and the smiles on her clients faces!
Lee is originally from Kapaa, Hawaii. Being a gracious host and ensuring that your guests leave content is an attribute that is engraved in your soul when growing up there. Everything you do, do with ALOHA (love). She and her family have been in the hospitality and entertainment industry as far back as she can remember whether it was a front desk position, serving, bussing, catering, dish washing, and even being a part of the show (yes, the luau show!). While attending college at BYU- Hawaii, Lee worked as a Flight Attendant for Hawaiian Airlines while also dancing in her grass skirt at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
It was when she relocated to the DMV that Lee decided to take the plunge into Event Planning and Catering. Lee’s background includes catering sales for a nightclub, a few well known hotels and a national restaurant chain. When Lee is not at Bittersweet, she enjoys cooking and baking her grandma’s favorite recipes, the gym and searching for her next DIY home project.
